Position Summary
Front office receptionist is responsible for ensuring all necessary documents are completed correctly and filed in each of the patient’s charts. Answers Phones and makes appointments for patients according to standardized procedures.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Greets patients and screens for program eligibility
Check patients in by verifying their appointment time, asking patients to sign in, and giving appropriate forms to complete
Confirm patient eligibility for medical insurance coverage
Make appointments for patients on the phone or in person according to standardized procedures; confirms future patient appointments
Assist in rescheduling patients as necessary
Answer calls within prescribed time and always maintains professional, effective and polite communication.
Ability to file and pull charts as necessary.
Appropriately routes calls, takes complete messages.
Enters data in the computer system to update patients’ information.
Collects co-payments and prepares receipts; responsible for cash box.
Assist the clinician in following up with broken appointments, routing follow-up care by contacting patients via telephone or mail and documenting the information in the medical records and appropriate logs.
Maintains confidentiality of patient information and medical records according to HIPPA guidelines.
Interacts with patients, physicians, staff, vendors, and visitors in ways that demonstrate caring and reflect the IMC mission and philosophy.
Fosters an environment that promotes trust and cooperation among all staff of IMC
Attends IMC meetings as required
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and confidentiality practices. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and telephone protocol. Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills.
Punctuality and excellent attendance required.
Professional demeanor and appearance is a must.
Excellent customer service skills required.
Prior work experience in Community Clinic or Doctor’s office preferred.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Prior work experience in Community Clinic or Doctor’s office preferred.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; Medical Assistant certification preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
Position requires prolonged hours of sitting at a computer; ability to lift up to 20 pounds
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel to local meetings and trainings
